ATM receipt/cigarette ashes
In this piece, everything besides the words Hong Kong is redacted. This is the artist’s first attempt in finger painting with cigarette ashes, on an ATM receipt as the canvas. Cigarette ashes infused with emotions revealed from his smoking in recent months is used as an agent of redaction of all things transactional about Hong Kong, depicted on an ATM receipt as a record of all things capitalistic. By painting with their own finger, the artist is reclaiming his own voice in this discourse of Hong Kong.
